MEET OUR COUNCIL
Our Commitment
At American Licorice Company, we are continually seeking to foster and nurture a safe community where everyone can bring their authentic selves to work and feel empowered to make an impact. Our goal is to establish an environment where differences are not only celebrated, but valued, and where Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are embedded into all aspects of the Associate experience.
DEI Council
The DEI Council is an inclusive, Associate-led group, serving as a resource to educate, advocate for, engage, and empower the American Licorice community. The DEI Council’s primary function is to examine individual, organizational, and structural challenges and opportunities to create a sense of belonging and community among all Associates. The Council and its membership were formed on the following principles: We take the broadest view of diversity. We value the visible and invisible qualities that make us who we are. We welcome everyone’s unique background and experiences. We are committed to advancing DEI practices in business.

DEI IN PRACTICE
We embrace the rich perspectives and experiences of our American Licorice Associates, but it takes both awareness AND action to create a sense of belonging for all Associates within our ALC community. We are committed to continuous improvement when it comes to furthering our efforts in the DEI space, beginning with our 2023 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion survey. This company-wide survey was distributed earlier this year to better understand the experiences of our Associates, and how we as a company can improve those experiences. From the results of the DEI Survey, we are engaged in developing training modules for our Associates that will empower them to contribute to a safe and positive work environment. The training, which will launch in Fall 2023, will focus on building our connections, enhancing our compassion, and improving our communication. Leadership at all levels will participate in this development program to build and strengthen their competence to support a diverse, equitable, and inclusive American Licorice Company.
