Position Overview:

 

The Warehouse Manager provides leadership and direction to optimize the activities of the warehouse and is involved in all Supply Chain activities. This role is responsible for the receiving, storing, packing and shipping of merchandise and materials.  Directly supervises Warehouse Supervisor and leads warehouse staff. Ensures that orders arrive and are dispatched on time to the appropriate destination and in the expected quantities.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Ensures safety procedures are followed regarding warehouse associates and freight carrier drivers’ activities, including the safe and proper functioning of warehouse related equipment.
  • Responsible for the efficient and timely scheduling of shipping finished goods to fulfill customer orders through the accurate preparation and maintaining of all shipping documents including Pick Lists, Bills of Lading, and Master Bills.
  • Must maintain and foster effective communication of shipping and inventory needs with Production and Supply Chain Departments.
  • Manages docking of trailers and interaction between freight carriers and the Warehouse Supervisor, including delivery appointments and pick-up times.
  • Responsible for the scheduling of warehouse associates including monitoring of overtime and resolving of issues and disputes. Responsible for warehouse organization and layout, maintaining integrity of processes and data in all the tasks necessary to support the WMS system and JDE.
  • Helps to implement lean processes and thinking and best practices, continually looking for and encouraging team members to do the same by finding ways to improve warehouse operations specifically, and supply chain operations generally.
  • Responsible for the designation of appropriate freight carriers based upon parameters created by the Demand Planning and Warehouse Manager in conjunction with our Logistics Provider.
  • Has direct communication with CRM, Brokers, Sales Managers and other appropriate associates as necessary to advise needs and plans for inventory issues and delivery schedules as necessary.
  • Coaches and mentors Warehouse Supervisor with inventory management of finished goods including inventory adjustments, reports, and inventory accuracies.
  • Mentors and coaches Warehouse Supervisor and planning of goals and strategic planning as assigned from Corporate Demand Planning and Warehouse Manager.
  • Audits location designations and code dates of finished goods to ensure timely movement of quality candy, with product shipments following FIFO protocol, or specific customer requirements if they require fresher product.
  • Responsible for Food Safety as related to position.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Minimum of two to four years Warehouse Management experience.
  • Experience in a Union setting.
  • Associate Degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • Must have strong computer skills, including MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to respond to issues in a timely manner while working in a fast-paced environment.
